Food, Family, and a Love of Boats
The story of Nautical Boards begins on a cool New England Thanksgiving Day. As much as my family has always enjoyed the holiday, this particular year had been a little more stressful than normal trying to juggle plane tickets, in-laws, dry turkey and more casseroles than we could ever have room for.
As I was running back and forth from the kitchen to the dining room, I thought to myself “there has to be a better way”. Later that night after cleaning up, I headed out to my workshop and began constructing a serving platter for toting food from the kitchen to the dining room on what would become the first nautical serving tray.
I always liked the look of a classic boat deck, with its contrasting dark and light wood, and the stainless fittings that were used to tie off lines. Because I had extra cleats I had planned to use on my boat, inspiration struck– they became the obvious choice for the perfect handles – at that moment Nautical Boards was born.
Since our humble beginnings we’ve added over 30 products to our selection and had to move out of the lakehouse garage to make extra room. We are passionate about building carving boards, serving trays, and cheese boards for the boat lover and entertainer and pride ourselves on the quality and uniqueness of our products. We’ve spent countless nights with friends out on our boat with wine and cheese, hors d'oeuvres, and entrees, and the presentation is almost as good as the food. Holidays and celebrations are now a breeze with our serving trays.
Whether we’re spending a day out on the water or an evening in the workshop, we love what we do and it shows with our boards.
All boards are handmade in Atlanta, GA.
